Principal's Message

It gives me pleasure to introduce myself with you, and also in welcoming you all to the website of the Bengal Institute of Technology (BIT), Kolkata- a unit of Techno India Group, Kolkata. Technical education in our Country is a challenge before every aspirant for fostering one’s professional career. Enormous opportunities are open before the students for pursuing their academic qualifications from various institutions; the Bengal Institute of Technology (BIT) holds a distinguished name and place for technical education in West Bengal.

I am a civil engineering graduate with post graduation in water resources engineering and Ph. D. in civil engineering. Prior to join in BIT, I was Scientist ‘G’ & Head, Ground Water Division of the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee- an apex R & D Institution under the Ministry of Water Resources, RD & GR, Government of India. I have a total of 32 years experiences in R & D on hydrology & water related areas, and 4 years as professional engineer in PWD of Government of Tripura (details in attached short CV).

Regarding BIT, it has three main technical departments; namely, Computer Science and Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Bio Technology, which are fully supported by the Basic Science and Humanities department. These departments have an excellent team of qualified faculties and staff together with supporting advanced infrastructural facilities, etc. The faculties and the laboratory technical staff take every effort in mentoring and transforming the budding students to become self reliance, professionally strong & skilled for contributing to the society. The Institute has good administrative and finance personnel who help in local administrative & financial matter. The main missions of the Institute are to provide value addition and advanced teaching, nurturing students to acquire self confidence, upgrade knowledge through different methods, persuasion & undertaking R & D studies in areas of interest for giving solutions to the real life problems and enhance and facilitate knowledgebase on emerging areas, The Institute also provides its students ample opportunities for development of professional skill through different activities like; Tech fest, Cultural fest, Sports and Games, Industrial tours, Club activities, etc. These activities help students discover and excel in their hidden talents in areas beyond academics. In addition to these, the Institute has a strong placement cell, which could establish and maintain a good coordination with industries and organizations for providing excellent opportunity for placement and training to the students.

There is always scope for continuous improvement in the journey of excellence. I am sure and strongly believe that with the active cooperation of all our stakeholders, students, faculties, staff, employees, collaborators, parents of the students, governmental organizations, media and public at large, we will be able to achieve our goals by fulfilling the motto of BIT, Kolkata.
