Greetings to all of you!

It gives me immense pleasure to introduce myself and also to welcome you all to the website of the Techno Bengal Institute of Technology, Kolkata- a unit of Techno India Group, Kolkata. Techno Bengal Institute of Technology (in short, TBIT), erstwhile Bengal Institute of Technology (BIT), established in the year 2000, is one of the earliest self-financed institutes in the State of West Bengal, and it has a long trajectory of imparting higher education, research, and training in various fields of engineering & technology, including securing several academic achievements, viz., NAAC, NIRF, ISO Certified, SIH winnings by students, etc. The institute is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT).

Engineering and Technical education worldwide is rapidly transforming to balance foundational theory with practical skills, sustainability, and AI integration to meet advanced automation, sustainability demands, and shifting industry needs. In India, it faces a severe quality-employability gap alongside a rapid transition toward emerging digital domains. The new engineering and technical aspirants thus have to choose the right Institute for pursuing academic qualifications to build a strong professional base; the Techno Bengal Institute of Technology (TBIT) holds a distinguished reputation and a good academic trajectory in engineering and technical education in West Bengal.

Let me give a brief introduction about myself: I am a civil engineering graduate with a post-graduation in water resources engineering and Ph. D. in civil engineering. Before joining TBIT as the Principal, I was Scientist ‘G’ & Head, Ground Water Division of the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee- an apex R&D institution under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. I have a total of 32 years of experience in R&D in hydrology & water-related areas, 8 years in teaching, and 4 years as a professional engineer in the PWD of the Government of Tripura (details in attached short CV).

Regarding TBIT, it has seven main technical streams of 4-year duration approved by the AICTE, Govt. of India. These are: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Information Technology (IT), CSE (AI & ML), Cyber Security, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EE) and Biotechnology, which are supported by the Basic Science and Humanities department. In addition to those technical streams, TBIT also operates two professional courses, BBA and BCA, of 4-year duration, approved by AICTE. All these streams have an excellent team of qualified faculty members, most having PhD degrees, and technical staff members, together with supporting advanced infrastructural facilities, etc. The faculty and the laboratory technical staff make every effort in mentoring and transforming the budding students to become self-reliant, professionally strong & skilled for contributing to society. The Institute has good administrative and finance personnel who help in local administrative & financial matters. The main mission of the Institute is to become an institute of excellence in engineering and technical education, and produce skilled technical manpower of high quality with a high degree of social commitment to compete in the global market as quality human resource to the society and industry. The Institute also provides its students ample opportunities for development of professional skills through different activities like: Tech fest, Product fair, Cultural fest, participation in Hackathons, Sports and Games, Industrial tours, Club activities, etc. These activities help students discover and excel in their hidden talents in areas beyond academics. In addition to these, the Institute has a strong training & placement cell that establishes and maintains good coordination with industries and organisations for providing excellent opportunities for placement and training to the students.

There is always scope for continuous improvement in the journey of excellence. I am sure and strongly believe that with the active cooperation of all our stakeholders, students, faculty, staff, employees, collaborators, parents of the students, governmental organisations, media and public at large, we will be able to achieve our goals by fulfilling the motto of TBIT, Kolkata.
